Dry Water

When the river runs dry
We find the bodies at the bottom.
Cracked earth veils what it devouers
while they claw for the sky
As they waved to the moon
When the last breath was released
Keeping anchored with rocks and chains
Now face down
In mud and clay
Only expressions of regret
But there was one of peace
