Not peaceful was my sleep,
Nightmares became my dreams.
Breaking my nails as I crawled
Up the wet well wall
Just to slip on the slimy stones
And slide back down to the cold.
But rain hit my face
And waters raised me as they flowed.
On the surface I see mansions
With halls of ivory,
Porcelain thrones
And chandeliers of ruby.
But here I turn my back
On these prisons given to me
For none could ever compare
To her beauty.
I watched as she took up
The sea.
As the land was dredged for mist and fog
To seize.
But my winds cleared the shroud away.
So I could see her heart in pain.
And know that she wanted to feel,
To know that love was real.
I always thought I'd fight
And battle to my end
Pushed onward by fear
That she might know what I meant.
But now I think it better
To cast down the weapons of war
Wave my white flag, Surrender
And become much more
If I make haste
I'll find my soul, to save.
